Why Banks Are Losing the Room

The fee story and the rate story are well covered. The vendor estate banks and their suppliers gorged on in the eighties and nineties is still running, largely unexamined, and it is the part that will not survive scrutiny.

The vendor estate banks and suppliers built in the eighties and nineties is still running on original agreements: accountability that cannot be outsourced, regulators conceding banks cannot leave, oversight by questionnaire rather than custody record, and permissions over shareholder data written before the data existed.

A Model Reads What You Wrote Down. A Person Sees What You Did.

With every house now worried about what AI will do to its data, the honest answer is that the brand is the more exposed of the two — and neither risk arrived with the model. In military-heavy regions, the data risk runs higher still. Buy the AI. Govern the path. Keep the boots on the ground.

Data is at stake in a way that is measurable, priced and insurable. Brand is at stake in a way that is none of those things. A house that routes its risk capital through an entity its own state cannot examine will route its data the same way, and its artwork after that.

Brand Safety Used to Be a Phone Call. Now It Is a Search.

A reputation was once protected, and ruined, by a few people who knew each other. AI has changed every part of that: it floods the web with synthetic content, fakes the brand itself, and reads a company, its principals, its vendors and their circle, down to posts, chats and email from years ago, in seconds. Most brands are still using the old controls.

Brand safety no longer means where a logo appears. It means what a company, its principals and their circle have already published, and that includes its vendors, because AI systems often collapse a brand's public expression and its vendors' into the same result. A market will price that before anyone checks who wrote it.

Filipino skincare brand hits 4.5M units sold, claims TikTok Shop PH top rank

Dermorepubliq surpassed 4.5 million units sold across bestsellers and emerged as TikTok Shop Philippines' No. 1 brand, per Manila Standard.

ReadingThe steal: TikTok Shop rewards brands that stock the store and let the video do the selling—not brands that treat it as an ad network. Dermorepubliq stocked bestsellers, let repeat buyers prove the product in-feed, and the algorithm amplified the proof. Don't buy TikTok ads; sell through TikTok Shop and let each sale become a demo. Stack the bestseller list first, then let the video comments sell the next unit.
MY STASH TAKEThis is not a TikTok success story—it's a marketplace story. The brand didn't win because it was clever on social; it won because it respected the platform's logic. TikTok Shop has its own SKU ranking, its own repeat-buyer graph, and its own video-to-sale attribution. Most brands ignore that and spray ads. Dermorepubliq stocked deep, kept bestsellers moving, and let the marketplace math do the work. That's the move. If you're on TikTok Shop, your job is not to be funny—it's to stock the bestseller, ship fast, and watch the video comments become your sales reps.
WatchWatch for Dermorepubliq to expand the bestseller line into adjacent categories—each new SKU on the bestseller list is a new demo video they don't have to pay for.

Limited Edition DualSense controller sold out in hours, exclusive to PlayStation Direct

PlayStation confirmed a Lisa Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller for October 2026, sold in highly limited quantities through PlayStation Direct only, per HappyGamer.

ReadingThe steal: owned-channel scarcity drops move faster than retail drops because the supply cap is credible and visible. Buyers camp the owned channel because they know the brand will not flood the market. Run the scarcity drop through your DTC site, not through retail—the scarcity signal is only credible when buyers know you control the full supply. State the quantity, state the drop window, then let the scarcity pressure do the selling.
MY STASH TAKEPlayStation did not invent the limited drop. What they did invent was the owned-channel constraint. When a product is available everywhere, scarcity is a lie. When it's only on PlayStation Direct, scarcity is a fact. That's the difference between a marketing claim and a structural fact. If you're running a scarcity play this month, sell it through your DTC site only. Tell buyers the quantity and the window. Don't hedge it with retail or marketplace sales. The scarcity pressure only works when the supply cap is real and visible.
WatchWatch for PlayStation to use the same drop pattern on new hardware releases—limited quantity, owned channel only, and a proof-of-sale badge for buyers.

Fashion retailer launches branded magazine to own customer attention off-platform

Revolve debuted a magazine to build owned-channel editorial presence, per Retail Dive.

ReadingThe steal: a magazine is a repeatable reason to email and re-engage buyers without paying platform fees. Revolve owns the editorial voice, the distribution list, and the repeat visit cycle. Buyers don't check Instagram on Tuesday; they check email for the new issue. Run a quarterly or monthly publication tied to your brand identity, distribute it via email, and measure repeat opens and reads. The content IS the retention tool.
MY STASH TAKEFashion brands leak money into Instagram ads every day. Revolve decided to print a magazine instead. It sounds like the opposite move—physical paper in a digital era. But it works because it's the one thing social can't take from them. TikTok changes the algorithm tomorrow; the magazine is still in the inbox Wednesday. If you're spending heavy on paid social to stay top-of-mind, stop. Publish a quarterly guide or lookbook, email it to your list, and measure repeat reads. One asset, infinite asset value.
WatchWatch for Revolve to use the magazine as a physical mail insert for high-value orders—the print object becomes a gift inside the box.

Single facial device brand took 2 of top 10 spots with 71% of sales from video

In Japan's TikTok Shop weekly ranking (Sept 21–27, 2026), one facial device brand claimed 2 of the top 10 bestseller slots, with 71% of category sales driven by video content, totaling 33.67 million yen, per TikTok Shop通信.

ReadingThe steal: on TikTok Shop, video IS the inventory. Don't seed an influencer with a demo video; post your own demo video in the shop and let 71% of the sales come from the play-back, not from ads. Film the real result—wrinkles in the before, smoothness in the after—and post it as a shop video, not as an ad. The algorithm surfaces demo video; the algorithm punishes ads. Stack bestsellers by letting video wins compound—each top-10 SKU becomes a proof point for the next SKU.
MY STASH TAKEMost brands think TikTok Shop is about finding the right influencer to seed. This data says otherwise. The facial device brand won because it made better demo videos than the influencers. 71% of sales came from video—that's the algorithm saying demo videos outsell paid seeding. If you're on TikTok Shop, stop waiting for an influencer. Make the demo yourself. Film the before, the after, and the real comment section. Post it as a shop video. That's the move. One good demo video on TikTok Shop will outperform ten influencer posts because the algorithm rewards watch time, not follows.
WatchWatch for the same brand to test multi-SKU stacking—each bestseller becomes a proof point for the next SKU in the line.

Meta releases Muse AI agent to help small businesses automate content and sales

Meta debuted Muse, an AI agent designed for small businesses to automate content creation, customer engagement, and sales tasks, per Retail Dive.

ReadingThe steal: an AI agent that automates your DMs is a free sales rep. Set Muse to answer customer questions in DMs, qualify leads, and send follow-up sequences—then measure which questions it gets wrong and which it closes. Use the data to train it, not replace it. Run the agent for 30 days, measure close rate vs. abandonment, then decide whether to hire or keep the bot. Most small brands will find the bot closes 60–70% of the easy sales, freeing the owner to close the edge cases.
MY STASH TAKEAI agents are not about replacing humans; they're about freeing humans to do the high-value work. Meta's Muse is a practice dummy for your DM sales process. It will get some closes, it will miss some softballs, and you'll learn what questions your buyers actually ask. Run it for a month, look at the close rate, and decide. Most owners will find that the agent handles the tire-kickers while they focus on the real buyers. That's a real win.
WatchWatch for Muse to integrate WhatsApp messaging—the agent becomes a global sales rep across all three Meta platforms.

Subscription brands lose more profit to skipped orders than cancellations

George Kapernaros, founder of YOCTO (Klaviyo Elite Master, 2025–2026), noted that subscription retailers incur higher profit loss from skipped orders than from cancellations, per Retail Insider.

ReadingThe steal: monitor skip rate as your churn canary. For every skipped order, send a retention email that reframes the value of the skip—offer a discount to un-skip, or offer a product swap to re-engage. Measure skip-to-skip intervals; if a buyer skips twice in a row, assume they're on the edge of cancellation. Intervene with a personalized offer before the second skip becomes a cancel. Track skip rate in your cohort analysis; a rising skip rate is a falling LTV.
MY STASH TAKESubscription operators obsess over cancellation rate and miss the real signal. Skipped orders are where the profit actually breaks. A buyer who skips today is a buyer who might cancel tomorrow. If you're running a subscription business and you're not tracking skip rate separately from churn, you're flying blind. Add skip rate to your weekly dashboard. When skip rate rises, it's not a pause—it's a warning flag. Intervene with an un-skip offer or a product swap. One good re-engagement email can save a $50/month recurring buyer.
WatchWatch for Klaviyo to add skip-rate cohort segmentation natively to its email platform.

TikTok Shop notches $23 billion in sales, reshaping brand commerce strategy

TikTok Shop has reached $23 billion in sales and is forcing major brands to rethink their commerce operations, per eMarketer. The platform behaves like a marketplace with its own P&L, SKU logic, and attribution blind spots—not like a media channel.

ReadingThe steal: test a single SKU on TikTok Shop and measure sell-through vs. your Shopify baseline. Don't buy ads; stock inventory and let video engagement surface it. Track which videos drive repeat buys, then double down on that video format. TikTok Shop's $23 billion in volume proves the marketplace math works; brands that ignore the platform's logic (treating it as media, not marketplace) are the ones losing market share to brands that respect it.
MY STASH TAKEA $23 billion marketplace is not a test anymore—it's a real distribution channel. The brands winning are not the ones with the biggest ad budgets; they're the ones that stock inventory and let video demo drive the sale. TikTok Shop is to Gen Z commerce what Amazon was to Millennials. If you're not on it, you're leaving money on the table. If you are on it and you're buying TikTok ads to promote your shop, you're fighting the platform's own logic. Stock a bestseller, ship it fast, and let the video comments sell the next unit.
WatchWatch for TikTok Shop to expand affiliate and partner-vendor onboarding—more brand tiers mean more competition for the bestseller ranking.
