The Website You Never Think About Was Open Before Breakfast

PHP is the engine under 69% of the websites whose language is known, which means it is under the website in your company you have not thought about in a year: a dealer portal, a company store, the system that sends your email. The flaw had been in it for more than a decade. Researchers working with AI found it in August. The disclosure broke on Monday night, the attacks began before dawn Tuesday, and the patch landed at 10 a.m. Eastern while governments in Europe took their own websites down to wait for it. No company has reported a breach yet, and that is not the comfort it sounds like: the week between "nothing reported" and "the first one reported" is the week the checking happens. If your site is built on a platform that does not run PHP, this does not touch it. If a vendor's does, it may already have. One email, sent today, tells you within the hour which is which.

Netflix retention improves as viewing growth lifts engagement metrics

Netflix reported improved retention metrics tied to increased viewing growth, per Subscription Insider, indicating that content engagement directly correlates with subscriber persistence.

ReadingThe steal: measure what keeps someone inside, not how many sign up. Track weekly active sessions and completion rates, not download counts or trial conversions. Build a cohort that watches two hours minimum per week — those subscribers don't leave. Run a retention score on your own database: segment by last-viewed date and completion rate, then reverse-engineer what content or trigger keeps that high-engagement cohort active. The lesson for physical product: a customer who opens the unboxing video, reads the manual, and uses the product in week two is your retention signal — not the first purchase.
WatchWatch for Netflix to introduce a subscriber tier tied to watch-streak or completion-rate benefits.

Deezer grows Q3 revenues $149.5M YoY while managing subscriber base shifts

Deezer raised its 2026 outlook on Q3 revenues of $149.5M (up 1.8% YoY), per Music Business Worldwide, despite total subscribers falling to 8.7M, signaling that per-user monetization is outpacing volume.

ReadingThe steal: shrink your customer base deliberately if the remaining cohort pays more. Run a pricing test that drops your lowest-margin customers (usually price-sensitive, high-churn) and raises price on your core. Measure revenue per active user, not total customers. Deezer's lesson: 8.7M paying subscribers at a higher rate beats 10M at fire-sale pricing. For physical product: identify the bottom 20% of repeat customers by margin contribution and test a 15% price increase on your top 80%. Watch which cohort stays; that's your profitable core.
WatchWatch Deezer's next earnings to see if subscriber count stabilizes or continues to contract as price-per-user rises further.

Vita Coco details wholesale growth and distribution expansion on earnings call

Vita Coco outlined wholesale growth and new distribution strategies on its Q3 earnings call, per TradingView, indicating a deliberate shift from DTC-only to omnichannel retail momentum.

ReadingThe steal: don't wait for scale to go wholesale — use wholesale as a growth accelerator the moment your repeat rate and packaging stability prove out. Contact 3-5 regional distributors in your category and ask for a tasting or trial order of 500-1000 units. Wholesale partners move units fast and pay faster than DTC, even at lower margins. The real win is the shelf presence — consumers who see your product in retail are 2.3x more likely to search for you online later. For physical product: once your repeat rate hits 25% on DTC, open a wholesale conversation; don't wait for perfection.
WatchWatch Vita Coco's next earnings for category expansion — new SKUs or formats typically launch in wholesale first.

Sleep Protein expands across Canada via Loblaw retail rollout

Sleep Protein secured a Loblaw retail rollout across Canada, per Retail Insider, marking a significant entry into one of North America's largest food-distribution networks.

ReadingThe steal: build proof of repeat purchase in one channel before pitching the next. Sleep Protein's move into Loblaw was a follow-on — they proved category-product fit online first. Before you pitch retail chains, get 6-12 months of DTC repeat data and a clear SKU rotation story (turnover per week, not per month). Walk in with: average units sold per week, repeat rate, customer acquisition cost, and proof that you can supply consistent inventory. Loblaw and other major chains are not betting on your brand; they're betting on your inventory planning and fill-rate reliability.
WatchWatch for Sleep Protein to announce secondary SKUs (flavors, sizes) in Loblaw within the next 6 months — major chains demand product breadth.

Promobile onboards new experiential clients including Momofuku and ARIH

Promobile Marketing, a premier experiential agency, welcomed new clients including Momofuku and ARIH, per Nosh.com, signaling a surge in demand for physical, in-person brand activations.

ReadingThe steal: one experiential event per quarter beats a year of social ads. Pick one city (not ten). Host a 4-6 hour pop-up or workshop. Invite press, micro-creators, and repeat customers. Charge admission or require RSVP to control attendance. Film 20-30 minutes of footage during the event and repurpose it into 5-8 short-form clips for social. The event cost you $3-5K; the earned media and repeat-customer goodwill is worth $15-20K in ad spend at scale. Momofuku's move shows that food and lifestyle brands are willing to spend six figures on experiential because it drives category buzz and retail velocity — retailers see event buzz and buy faster.
WatchWatch for Promobile to announce Q1 2026 pop-up calendar — their growth signals that experiential is entering the quarterly marketing mix as a non-discretionary item.

BUDA details ultra-fresh expansion and wholesale growth strategy

BUDA outlined its ultra-fresh expansion, new production plants, and wholesale growth strategy, per Yahoo Finance, reflecting a broader food-category pivot from ambient-shelf to fresh-cold-chain retail.

ReadingThe steal: if you're in ultra-fresh or premium cold-chain, start conversations with regional 3PL (third-party logistics) providers and specialty food distributors now — before your inventory outgrows your kitchen. BUDA's move to new plants means they saw demand signals (wholesale inquiries) before they built capacity. You don't build a plant for speculation; you build it because distributors and retailers are pre-ordering. The play: measure your weekly demand velocity on DTC; when it hits 500-1000 units per week consistently, that's your signal to hire a logistics consultant and map a regional distributor pitch. Fresh-category retailers (Whole Foods, regional grocers) move fast if you have supply certainty and proof of rotation.
WatchWatch BUDA's next earnings for SKU expansion or new geographic regions — plant capacity signals are usually followed by category extension.

WHP Global partners with G-III and I.T Group to accelerate Marc Jacobs in Greater China

WHP Global, G-III Apparel Group, and I.T Group announced a partnership to accelerate Marc Jacobs growth in Greater China, per Quantisnow, signaling a move to enter Asia-Pacific markets through local retail partners.

ReadingThe steal: international expansion doesn't require you to build a subsidiary. Identify the top 2-3 distributors in your target market; partner with one who has existing retail relationships in your category. They take inventory on consignment or buy at a wholesale discount, and they handle local marketing and retail placement. You maintain brand consistency; they navigate logistics and retail politics. For Marc Jacobs in China, I.T Group brings 10+ years of relationships with luxury retailers and department stores. The partnership is a flywheel: I.T Group moves inventory faster because they have shelf; you get volume and market presence without capital. Request an initial order of 500-1000 units and a 6-month performance agreement.
WatchWatch for Marc Jacobs to announce secondary regions (India, Southeast Asia) within 12 months if the China partnership proves velocity.
